Mike Tyson returns the boxing ring for an exhibition bout on November 28 and the 54-year-old heavyweight plans for something beyond dominance of Roy Jones Jr.
"I'm more evolved now than I've ever been. My objective is to go in there with the best intentions of my life and to disable my opponent, and that's just what it is," Tyson said.
The fight was scheduled for Sept. 12 but postponed. There are three fights on the event undercard in Los Angeles, including former NBA player Nate Robinson against YouTuber Jake Paul.
Jones Jr., 51, said he constantly gets asked about whether he has been in the ring with Tyson. The fight between 50-year-olds is the first in what Tyson dubbed the Tyson's Legends Only League.
"I'm so glad to get this opportunity because now I can say, 'Yes, I did. I sure did,'" Jones Jr. said of finally getting in the ring with Tyson. "And guess what? Tune in on the 28th and you'll see how it go."
Tyson is 34 years removed from becoming boxing's youngest heavyweight champion. He has kept onlookers intrigued over the past several months with videos of his comeback conditioning workouts and in-ring work.
"I've always wanted to see how I would fare with Mike," Jones said. "How his punches would look coming at me. Could I avoid them? How long could I avoid them? Could he avoid mine? Could he take mine? There was a lot of questions always, so of course, if you get an opportunity to answer them, you want to answer those questions. They gave me the opportunity, so guess what? I've got to answer these questions now."
