The Washington Nationals placed 10 players, including several starters, on the injured list Tuesday amid a COVID-19 outbreak on the team.
The Nationals have yet to play this season but are scheduled to host the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.
On the injured list are pitchers Patrick Corbin, Jon Lester and Brad Hand, catchers Yan Gomes and Alex Avila, infielders Josh Bell, Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer, and outfielder Kyle Schwarber.
No specific injury was specified for the players, but MLB.com reported that Bell and Schwarber were placed on the COVID-19 list.
Right-handed pitcher Will Harris also went on the injured list with inflammation in his right hand.
The Nationals' first four games were postponed because of the virus. At least four players are known to have tested positive with others sidelined as part of MLB protocols, though the Nationals have not said which players had a COVID-19 diagnosis.
The Nationals made a flurry of moves to fill the roster.
They selected the contract of veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy, recently signed, and he is expected to start Tuesday.
In other moves, they recalled catcher Tres Barrera, pitchers Sam Clay, Ryne Harper and Kyle McGowin, infielders Luis Garcia and Carter Kieboom, and outfielder Yadiel Hernandez from the alternate training site.
Outfielder Cody Wilson also was named a replacement player.
Right-hander Max Scherzer will make his sixth Opening Day start in seven seasons with the Nationals. He'll be opposed by lefty Drew Smyly of the Braves in Tuesday afternoon's game.
