PHNOM PENH, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has held talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi via video link, discussing bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues, Cambodia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
During their conversation on Wednesday, Modi commended the Cambodian government for the successful prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry said in a statement.
The Indian Prime Minister also invited Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni as well as Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, deputy commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, to visit India at a mutually convenient time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.
"Both leaders expressed their satisfaction over the growing cordial relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, human resource development, defense and security, development cooperation, connectivity and people to people ties," the statement said.
It added that the two leaders also exchanged views on the regional and international issues of common interests and concerns, including the Myanmar issue, Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the ASEAN outlook on the Indo-Pacific, among others.
Meanwhile, Hun Sen invited Modi to pay a visit to Cambodia and attend the ASEAN-India summit and other related summits in November 2022 in Phnom Penh, the statement said, adding that Modi accepted the invitation with pleasure.
