New Delhi [India], July 11 (ANI): Residents across Delhi-NCR experienced mild tremors on Friday evening following an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 that struck Haryana's Jhajjar district, just a day after a stronger 4.4 magnitude quake hit the same region.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at 7:49 pm on Friday at a depth of 10 kilometres, with tremors felt across Delhi and its neighbouring regions.
Residents displayed mixed emotions, ranging from worry to calm, in their reactions. Some said, 'We will pray to God to bless us,' while others said, 'I don't fear death,' as people dealt with the repeated tremors.
In Jhajjar, one resident said the repeated tremors have unsettled people in the area. 'The people seem to be scared. The epicentre was also said to be Jhajjar... Today, too, we felt the tremors. We will pray to God to bless us,' he told ANI.
Arjun, a resident of Delhi, shared a similar sentiment, saying, 'I felt earthquake tremors. I don't fear death, but we can't do much in case of natural disasters. We can only take precautions.'
Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale had shaken the same region. This incident caused widespread panic, with several residents describing the experience as frightening.
'I was working in my office when suddenly the computer systems and fans started shaking. So, it was quite scary. We rushed out. The epicentre is in Jhajjar. So, we are anticipating an aftershock. I had never felt such an earthquake before,' a local resident from Jhajjar told ANI.
Rajbala, another resident in Jhajjar, recalled, 'I was sitting on my terrace and cleaning something when everything started shaking vigorously. I had never felt such an earthquake before.'
Similar reactions came from Delhi residents, many of whom expressed concern over the intensity of the tremors. 'It was a little scary. We should be mindful of safety when this happens,' said a man who felt the quake. Another added, 'It was really scary, my vehicle shook. It was really strong.' (ANI)
