Brooks Baldwin and Mike Tauchman each hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 comeback win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday afternoon in Minneapolis.
Chase Meidroth hit a two-run homer for Chicago, which won its second game in a row. Colson Montgomery added a solo homer for the White Sox.
Byron Buxton had a double and two RBIs for Minnesota. Royce Lewis hit a solo homer and Brooks Lee also drove in a run.
White Sox left-hander Tyler Alexander (5-13) earned the victory despite allowing one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings. He was one of six relief pitchers to follow opener Fraser Ellard, who allowed one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings.
Twins right-hander Justin Topa (1-4) gave up two runs on three hits in the eighth. He and three other relievers followed starter Bailey Ober, who gave up four runs on six hits over five innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
Chicago opened the scoring with three runs in the second. Montgomery led off the inning with a solo homer and Meidroth followed three batters later with a two-run shot.
The Twins pulled within 3-1 in the bottom of the second when Buxton drew a bases-loaded walk.
In the fourth, Buxton scored on a throwing error by White Sox catcher Kyle Teel to make it 3-2.
Tauchman increased Chicago's lead to 4-2 with an RBI single to center in the fifth.
Minnesota erased the deficit with two runs in the sixth. Lewis led off the inning with a solo homer to left-center and Buxton made it 4-4 with a sacrifice fly to left later in the frame.
Lee put the Twins on top with an RBI single in the seventh, but the lead did not last long as Topa gave up a pair of runs in the eighth. Baldwin tied with an RBI double to center. One batter later, Tauchman belted an RBI double to center to score Baldwin and put the White Sox on top.
