Spencer Dinwiddie scored a season-high 31 points and P.J. Washington added 27 as the Dallas Mavericks snapped a four-game losing streak with a 123-117 win over the visiting Detroit Pistons on Friday.
Dallas (34-37) withstood a late rally when Brandon Williams converted a three-point play with 16.9 seconds left. It came after Cade Cunningham's layup cut the Pistons' deficit to 118-115.
Cunningham scored again with 10.8 seconds remaining, but Klay Thompson made two foul shots, and Dallas picked up just its second win in its last 11 games.
Thompson finished with 20 points and Naji Marshall recorded his sixth double-double this season with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the injury-plagued Mavericks, who had only nine available players. Kai Jones had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Cunningham led Detroit (39-32) with 35 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Malik Beasley scored 16 points, Jalen Duren had 14 points and nine rebounds, Ronald Holland III scored 12 points and Dennis Schroder 11.
Dallas took the lead early within the first two minutes of the game and never trailed again. The Mavericks shot 52.5 percent from the field for the game and 35.3 percent (12 of 34) from 3-point range.
Dallas led 35-27 at the end of the first quarter after shooting 52.2 percent from the field.
Pistons guard Tim Hardaway Jr. exited the game against his former team midway through the second quarter with a right ankle sprain and did not return.
Dinwiddie scored 17 points as Dallas took a 60-54 advantage into intermission.
The Mavericks led 91-83 at the end of the third quarter and extended their lead to 97-85 before Detroit used a 11-2 run to pull within 99-96 on Cunningham's turnaround hook shot with 8:03 left in the game.
After Beasley's trey cut the deficit to 109-106 with 2:49 left, Dallas scored five of the next six points to lead 114-107 with 1:59 remaining.
