New Delhi [India] April 9 (ANI): Former South Africa wicketkeeper/batter Mark Boucher praised Priyansh Arya's stunning century against Chennai Super Kings, highlighting his resilience amidst constant pressure at the other end.
While speaking on Jio Hostar, Boucher said that he was impressed by Arya's audacity and bravery. He believed he had a clear intention to score a century quickly and executed it perfectly, despite the constant fall of wickets from the other end. Boucher highlighted his ability to stick to his game plan and achieve a remarkable feat, putting him among the greatest for scoring a century in just 39 balls.
'This is the biggest stage, and this is where you want to perform. I almost got the feeling that he woke up that morning and said, I'm going to score a hundred off 40 balls today, no matter what. What's truly special is what you don't always see in the highlights; that is, the wickets were constantly falling from the other end. He showed the bravery to stick to his game plan and kept going no matter what. It was a fantastic inning, and he's now up there with some of the greatest for that 100 in 39 balls.' Jio Star expert Mark Boucher said while speaking on Match Centre Live on JioHotstar.
Opener Priyansh Arya's maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century helped hosts Punjab Kings (PBKS) score 219 runs and set up victory over five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who lost the encounter by 18 runs.
Braving the fall of wickets from the other end, Priyansh scored a counter-attacking 103 in 42 balls, with seven fours and nine sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of 245.24. He scored the fourth-fastest century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, tying with Australian star batter Travis Head.
He brought up his century in just 39 balls, also, this is the eighth IPL ton by an uncapped player in tournament history, after Shaun Marsh (Australia in IPL 2008), Manish Pandey (India in IPL 2009), Paul Valthaty (India in IPL 2009), Devdutt Padikkal (India in IPL 2021), Rajat Patidar and Yashasvi Jaiswal (India, IPL 2022), Prabhsimran Singh (India, IPL 2023).
