Russell Wilson is the New York Giants' starting quarterback as the team begins training camp, head coach Brian Daboll announced Wednesday.
'These guys will be out here competing, but Russ is our starter,' Daboll said.
Also Wednesday, Daboll said wide receiver Malik Nabers will fully participate in practice. Nabers, who is entering his second NFL season, has been nursing a toe injury that dates back to his college days at LSU.
Left tackle Andrew Thomas is expected to be ready to compete in New York's season opener against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 7, general manager Joe Schoen said. Thomas was placed on the physically unable to perform list this week after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a Lisfranc foot injury last October.
Wilson leads a quarterback room that includes fellow free agent addition Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart, who was selected with the 25th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
A 10-time Pro Bowl selection, Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract in March with the potential to earn an additional $10 million in incentives.
Wilson, 36, threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games (all starts) last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A Super Bowl champion in Seattle, Wilson has thrown for 46,135 yards and 350 touchdowns in 199 career games (all starts) with the Seahawks (2012-21), Denver Broncos (2022-23) and Steelers.
Nabers, who turns 22 on Monday, set an NFL rookie record with 109 catches last season, which also was a franchise mark with the Giants.
Nabers totaled 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games (13 starts) en route to being named to the Pro Bowl.
The Giants selected Nabers with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Thomas, 26, started all six of the games in which he appeared last season and has 60 starts in 61 career contests. He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2022.
The Giants selected Thomas with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Georgia.
