Miguel Andujar smashed two homers and Brent Rooker and Darell Hernaiz each hit one as the Athletics powered their way to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night at West Sacramento, Calif.
Jeffrey Springs pitched six solid innings to help the Athletics win for the sixth time in the past seven games. The A's took two of three from Seattle in this series.
Julio Rodriguez, Jorge Polanco and Randy Arozarena homered for the Mariners, who lost for the third time in four games.
Seattle reportedly reacquired veteran third baseman Eugenio Suarez (36 homers) during Wednesday's game. The trade deadline is Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
The Athletics surprisingly didn't use Mason Miller in the save situation despite his last appearance coming on Saturday. There has been speculation that Miller could be dealt.
Rookie Jack Perkins worked two innings for his third save. Perkins served up the homer to Arozarena with one out in the ninth before retiring Josh Naylor and Polanco on grounders to end it.
Springs (10-7) allowed one run and two hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked one to improve to 4-1 over his last five starts.
Both of the hits Springs allowed came in the first inning. He retired 13 straight Mariners during one stretch.
Seattle's Bryan Woo served up all four Athletics homers while losing to the A's for the first time in seven career decisions. Woo allowed five runs, eight hits, one walk and struck out six.
Rodriguez homered with one out in the top of the first for Seattle. It was his 99th career homer.
Rooker came up with two outs in the first and homered to center off Woo.
Shea Langeliers followed with a single and stole second. He scored on Tyler Soderstrom's RBI double.
In the fourth, Andujar came up with two out and lined a homer to left to give the A's a 3-1 lead.
The following inning, Hernaiz drilled a homer to left, his first since being recalled on Tuesday and the second of his career.
Springs' departure gave Seattle life in the seventh inning and Naylor drew a one-out walk against Justin Sterner. Polanco followed with a two-run, opposite-field blast to left center to move the Mariners within 4-3.
However, Andujar jumped on Woo's second pitch of the bottom of the seventh and sent it over the wall in left center.
