With one out in the ninth, Xavier Edwards scored from third base on a swinging bunt by Agustin Ramirez as the host Miami Marlins rallied for a 13-12 walk-off win over the New York Yankees on Friday night.
The Marlins trailed 9-4 before scoring six runs in the seventh inning. They also entered the bottom of the ninth down 12-10.
All-Star Kyle Stowers led Miami with a grand slam, and Javier Sanoja homered twice.
Jose Caballero, making his Yankees debut, made a key fielding error in right field in the ninth inning, leading to Miami's final rally.
Giancarlo Stanton, playing against his former team, and Trent Grisham each drilled three-run homers for New York.
Marlins center fielder Jakob Marsee made his MLB debut, going 1-for-2 with three walks, one double and two runs. Anthony Bender (3-5) got the win despite allowing two runs in the top of the ninth.
Yankees All-Star Carlos Rodon got a no-decision despite striking out nine batters. He allowed two hits, a season-high-tying five walks and four runs in 4 2/3 innings.
The Yankees took a 12-10 lead in the ninth as Ryan McMahon hit an RBI single and Anthony Volpe added an RBI double.
But the Marlins roared back in the bottom half as Sanoja singled, Marsee walked and Edwards singled to right off Camilo Doval (4-3). Caballero couldn't glove the ball coming his way, and two runs scored as Edwards reached third.
Edwards then scored on Ramirez's swinging bunt for the improbable victory.
The Yankees acquired three relief pitchers at Thursday's trade deadline -- Jake Bird, David Bednar and Camilo Doval -- and they combined to give up nine runs on Friday.
New York opened the scoring in the fourth as Stanton swung at a 2-2 slider, pulling it 409 feet to left to give New York a 3-0 lead. Stanton leads all active players with 438 career homers.
New York extended its lead to 6-0 in the fifth on an RBI single by Jasson Dominguez and Cody Bellinger's two-run single.
But Miami fought back with a four-run bottom of the fifth. Sanoja hit an opposite-field, two-run homer, and Liam Hicks blooped a two-run single that had an exit velocity of just 67 mph.
Grisham's three-run homer in the seventh gave New York a 9-4 lead.
Stowers' grand slam to left in the bottom of the seventh was nearly caught by Dominguez as the ball deflected off his glove.
Sanoja then homered off Bednar, tying the score 9-9. Ramirez, a former Yankees prospect, lined a go-ahead RBI single to cap the rally.
However, Volpe tied the score 10-10 with a homer to lead off the eighth.
