It was the eighth multi-homer game of Tucker's career, three of which have come against the Angels, and his first with the Cubs. Michael Busch and Willi Castro each had two hits for Chicago, which finished with 14 hits and scored 10 or more runs in a game for the 18th time this season.

Chicago blew the game open with four more runs in the sixth inning against reliever Carson Fulmer. Busch had an RBI single to make it 7-0, and Tucker followed with his 21st home run and third in two games, a 394-foot three-run blast to right. It was Tucker's 27th career homer against the Angels.
The Cubs added two more runs to make it 12-0 in the seventh. Dansby Swanson doubled to drive in Owen Caissie, who had opened the inning with a double and advanced to third on an infield single by Hoerner. McGuire then drove in Hoerner with a sacrifice fly.
