Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels participated in practice Wednesday as he attempts to work his way past a knee injury.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn said prior to the session that Daniels was expected to be a limited participant. Daniels sustained his injury in the latter stages of Washington's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 11 and sat out last Sunday's 41-24 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
'(Daniels) is doing everything you possibly can to get there,' Quinn said of the quarterback playing for the Commanders (2-1) in their road game against the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) on Sunday.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin sustained a quadriceps injury during the third quarter against the Raiders. He was not expected to participate in practice on Wednesday, per Quinn.
ESPN reported on Tuesday that McLaurin was seeking additional opinions on the injury, which appeared to happen on a dive toward the end zone at the end of a 56-yard catch.
With Daniels sidelined, veteran Marcus Mariota stepped up and was an efficient 15 of 21 for 207 yards and a touchdown versus the Raiders.
Daniels, 24, has connected on 59.7 percent of his passes for 433 yards and three TDs with no interceptions this season.
He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season after being selected second overall by the Commanders.
McLaurin, 30, has 10 catches for 149 yards this season. He hasn't missed a start since 2020 and has a streak of 72 consecutive games played.
He entered the season with little on-field preparation following a protracted holdout that ended Aug. 25 when he signed a three-year contract extension.
McLaurin, a third-round draft pick in 2019, has 470 career receptions for 6,528 yards and 38 TDs in 100 games.
